Santa Barbara-born and Bay Area-raised, Claire Rose is a Latinx multidisciplinary artist and the creative force behind Haute After Dark—a fashion line born in the dead of winter, circa 2019, when she sought passion and safety through design. What began as a deeply personal exploration has evolved into a collection of upcycled vintage clothing and handmade garments that fuse modernity with nostalgia, industry with artistry, and the old with the new.
More than fashion; it is a canvas for self-expression, an eclectic mix of wares that holds something for everyone—as art should. This latest collection challenges the narrative of gendered workwear, using tone, pattern, hand-stitching, and paint to deconstruct the relationship between identity and apparel. Claire’s work rejects the idea that clothing defines the wearer, instead offering garments that allow individuals to embody whoever—or whatever—they wish to be. Each piece is a story, repurposed and reimagined, inviting the viewer to question what is possible.
Beyond her work in fashion, Claire Rose is a dedicated community leader whose practice centers on uplifting BIPOC and marginalized voices by creating spaces for artistic expression across the world. She has pursued artist residencies in Berlin, Mexico City, and Berkeley, exploring various mediums and expanding the reach of her work. Her passion lies in fostering community through art, connection, and conversation, believing that creativity is a powerful force for change. Through her work, she seeks to make the world a more inclusive, expressive, and connected place—one piece, one story, and one conversation at a time.
